Hospitality is not simply a kindness, but a Christian calling, rooted deeply in Scripture and essential to the life of the Church. From the beginning, God’s people have been called to receive one another with love: “Welcome one another, therefore, as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God” (Romans 15:7). In the Acts of the Apostles, we see the early Church living this out by sharing life together—“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship… and all who believed were together and had all things in common” (Acts 2:42–44). Our Hospitality Ministry exists to help foster this same spirit today, nurturing a rich Catholic culture where faith is not only believed, but lived, shared, and celebrated. As the Catechism teaches, the Church is both a visible community and a spiritual family, called to manifest Christ’s love in concrete ways (CCC 781–786).

In a parish that serves a large and diverse community, hospitality becomes an act of evangelization. Many among us are new Canadians, newcomers to the parish, or lifelong Catholics who may not yet feel connected to the wider life of the Church. Hospitality helps bridge these gaps by creating spaces of welcome, belonging, and shared life, bearing patiently with one another and building up unity in Christ (Colossians 3:12–15). Through simple acts of service, presence, and care, we help one another grow as disciples, learning to love not only in word, but in deed (1 John 3:18). This ministry supports the Church’s mission to form a people who live the Gospel together, reflecting the communion and charity that flow from the Eucharist itself (CCC 1396–1397).
